About the event
Drawing for Beginners. It is suited for those with little or no drawing experience or for those who would like a refresher course on the basic foundations of drawing. Covered in this class: learning your materials, contour and line drawing, geometric shapes, value scale, and an introduction to shading techniques. Participants in this first class will complete a series of simple drawing exercises designed to help them build on basic skills which will be expanded on in subsequent classes.
Required supplies needed for this class include: 1 HB and 1 2B drawing pencils, erasers, hand held pencil sharper and Newsprint or inexpensive drawing paper. *It is advisable to have a couple of spare pencils on hand.
Rebecca Justice Chamberlain holds a B.A. in Art History from Mansfield University-Mansfield, PA. She works in graphite, Faber-Castell polychromos colored pencils, watercolor, ink and oil. Her original works can be found in private collections throughout the United States.
With a deep appreciation for Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite art, her work is inspired by artists from these movements along with the Golden Age of Illustration, Botanical Studies, and Contemporary Realism. Rebecca has worked as a private art instructor since 1995, teaching workshops and classes in private studios, museums, libraries, and educational cooperatives in Kentucky, Maryland and South Carolina.
In 2010 five of her illustrations were published in the book, Bluegrass Drawing Society, and in 2014 she illustrated the children’s book, Jayden the Gentle, Tall and Gangly Giraffe, written by Lisa Farr Sharon. Rebecca wrote and illustrated the book, Maralee and the Turtles of the Sea, which was published in June of 2018.
